A Bite into Sacrifice-NaPoWriMo-Day 14

We must practice what we sacrifice best,
which is to say we bite into death each day
like melon, or melon-cauli(flowers), shelled,
biting into death each day, practice of blessed
saying, cornsilk-rich, easier to pray
which, like corn-silk practices, sacrifices a bite,
says ghost incantations, holds in breath, a yelled
practice, an old lace relic, champagne under light.
