New Ways of Exi(s)ting

-inspired by Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delight” and Daughter’s “New Ways”

Worst I bring
to begun endings,
disguised in a year
of clam-shut bodies,
liver-encrusted feast
of stolen organs.

There’s a way out,
you know. Even the
crowd knows how to
make hell enjoyable.

Split off ears to
hear better, my
dear.

Herded animals, gutted
fruit. Sickness lies
everywhere.

The shallow lakes
taste like madness.

There are subtle exits,
a change of scenery,
maybe, a drinking

of the unripe,
nectarine-prickled
rivers, flowing with
a surrendering.
